Our services
We keep our focus narrow on purpose: criminal law, traffic law and contested Wills and estates. The advice you get comes from lawyers who do this work every week.
Practice areas
01 / Criminal law
From assault, drug and AVO matters through to serious charges before a jury, we prepare every matter as though it is going to hearing. That preparation is what gets charges reduced, withdrawn or successfully defended.
Assault · AVOs · Drug offences · Serious charges · Sentencing · Appeals
Criminal law
02 / Traffic law
Drink driving, speeding, driving while suspended and licence appeals. Losing your licence can cost you your job, so we work to keep you on the road wherever the law allows. We present regularly at the Traffic Offenders Program.

03 / Wills & Estates Litigation
When a Will leaves someone out, or an estate is being challenged, the outcome turns on evidence and deadlines. We act in Family Provision claims and estate disputes, and have secured provision for widows and children in exactly that situation.

Common questions
Every matter is different, so the best answer is a conversation. These are the questions we hear most often.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the matter, which is why we explain the likely costs at the start, before any work begins. You will know where you stand financially from day one, with no surprises.
Should I talk to police before getting legal advice?
You have the right to get legal advice before taking part in a police interview. What you say can be used as evidence, so in almost every case it is wise to speak to a lawyer first. Call us before you go in.
My court date is soon. Is it too late?
Usually not. We regularly take on matters at short notice, including court appearances only days away. The sooner you call, the more time we have to prepare, so do not wait.
Which courts and areas do you cover?
We appear in the Local, District and Supreme Courts of NSW, and act for clients across Newcastle, the Hunter, the Central Coast, Sydney and the Mid North Coast.
Who will handle my matter?
An experienced lawyer, from start to finish. Duncan & Co is a boutique firm by design, so the lawyer you speak to on the first call is the lawyer who runs your matter.
